Keep Your Kitty Happy with These 11 Entertainment Videos for Cats!

Raise your hand if you’ve ever found yourself lost in the black hole of adorable cat videos on YouTube… If so, you’re not alone! But what about when it’s your feline friend that’s bored? That’s when you need these entertainment videos for cats!

If this is your first time hearing about videos made specifically for cats, you’re about to discover one of the most hilarious inventions for cats everywhere!

While there are places that you can purchase these videos online, there are many different options available free right on YouTube.

That’s where I’m pulling today’s recommendations from!

If you follow ShedHappensBlog on TikTok, then you know that we recently introduced Pippen to a video that showcased a bunch of fish swimming across my laptop screen.

She was hilariously curious, looking on the screen and behind the computer!

Regardless of your cat’s age, they are all playful kittens at heart! Don’t believe me?

Today I’m going to share with you a selection of videos that were tried and tested by our sweet little puffball Pippen.

Confession: Not ALL cats are going to get as excited about this. Jinx is our resident couch potato. She has no interest in most toys and she had no interest in most of these videos… There’s a reason she’s a little chunky, but we still love her!

These videos are easy to use. Simply start the video and click the ‘Fullscreen’ button in the bottom right corner (to remove any distractions and give your cat the full experience).

Place your cat in front of the computer and enjoy the hilarious entertainment!

One word of warning… Do NOT be surprised if this encourages your cat to pay more attention to your computer moving forward.

Since introducing Pippen to these videos, she has been far more obsessed with my computer (not that she wasn’t interested before).

This wouldn’t be a huge issue except that I use a touch screen computer. Every time that she decides to chase my cursor and paw at the screen, she opens things, closes windows, and more. Small oversight on my part…

Minor oversight on my part!

If you have a touchscreen computer, you may want to stick with something safer like cat grass to keep your pet entertained.

If you are prepared for the potential consequences, let’s get on with it!

  1. these videos seems quite interesting and much helpful to keep your kitty happy…Amazing idea….I just love to have a kitty pet thought i haven’t any yet but wish to have soon…and this will help me much…

    1. Cats are a great pet as they are a little more independent for those who may not have the time at home necessary for a dog, but still so full of love!

  2. These videos are great! I’ll turn the bird one one the TV for my two fur babies so I can get some extra work done. Sometimes I feel like I have toddlers instead of cats lol

  3. This is great, I didn’t know there were videos specifically for cats but it makes a lot of sense! I can imagine cats absolutely loving them!

  4. Pippen is so adorable, that’s a great cat video. Looks like he really liked the image of the fish. I had no idea that people actually make videos designed for cats, what an interesting and fun idea. I bet the laser one works really well.

    1. All of the videos here are Pippen tried and tested! The laser was one of the few that also kept our lazier cat Jinx’s attention lol

  5. Looks fun! I don’t have a cat but I have a dog and he is a herding dog. When I really want to be still and happy I start showing him youtube videos with sheeps: his record is over an hour!

  6. Aww how cute is this. I love this and in fact love any animals so this is a great post and I am sure that cats will love the videos x

  7. I have no cat but these are some great ways to entertain cats in simple videos like these.

    1. I love that there are so many options! Although, the cat here that could use the exercise (our overweight kitty Jinx) isn’t interested in doing anything more than laying still and watching them lol

  8. Lol this is so fun, I will send this list to my friends who are cat mama’s. A couple weeks ago we had an online birthday party for my friend’s cat. Technology is so great for cat owners!

  9. Oh my god, you wrote the perfect crazy cat lady post for me! I love finding stuff on tv that my cat will watch with me. Lol. I’m coming back to this later tonight to sit on the couch and see if my cat will watch these with me. I’ve determined he hates the Food Network. No clue why, but he loves to sit on my remotes and change the channel whenever I’m watching it. I’ve also recently figured out that I can ask Alexa to make cat sounds and he’ll jump up where the Echo is and start slapping at it.

    1. Confession: I sat just watching Pippen’s reactions to all these videos DYING laughing. Great entertainment!
I will have to try that with Alexa. That’s too funny!!

  10. This is just more proof that cats have taken over the internet. Not only are cute cat videos all the rage, there are videos FOR cats too! Also this makes me miss my kitties that have since passed on. I’m looking forward to when my children are older and we can get a kitty again!

  11. What a great idea. I don’t have cats anymore but when I did they would sit in the window and watch the birds outside for hours. These videos allow you to entertain your cats even when there are no birds outside. Maybe I will to try showing the videos to my dog to see if she reacts to it.

    Thanks for sharing

    1. I have heard that some people have had luck with their pups. Mine weren’t interested but they love when there are dogs on tv lol

  12. When I had 3 cats in Israel, 20 plus years ago, there was no social media like today and sometimes I wish their had been as I would not have had to make all the cat toys for them LOL. The videos are amazing and a brilliant idea, thanks for sharing

  13. Oooh! These are pawsome. I’m going to have to share them with Manna and Dexter. Both of my cats enjoy watching my computer screen, so they would be thrilled to get a video of birds or fish crossing the screen. The cat teasers video looks interesting too!

    1. Pippen is obsessed with the cursor on my computer regularly so I wasn’t at all surprised to find out that she also loved the videos lol

  14. Have you seen those music videos to calm cats? They are tremendous. Ambient music and a scattering of bird sounds. Ours have so much bird sound out in the garden when they play but their ears STILL perk up. Videos as so much fun engaging a cat’s attention. If a can is indoor it can be an important part of their engagement routine.

    1. I have! I actually came across them just recently. Jinx fell asleep watching one lol (although she is a little on the lazy side of life)

  15. My cats love the Paul Dinning nature videos. It works to distract them off my computer – I put the videos for cats on my tablet and it buys me a bit of time to work. Not all my cats appreciate them at the same level. The little girls are like your Pippen- they try to find the critters. The older ones just like to watch.

    1. That’s a great idea! Our girl Jinx is more like your older cats – she enjoyed laying watching the videos but didn’t really actively react to them. Like, she was okay with them being there but not interested in enough to try to figure them out lol

  16. I enjoyed the bird one! My sister’s cat loves to look out the window at the birds and squirrels, I’ll tell her to show him these videos.

    1. I have one cat that sits outside looking out the window at the birds. Funny enough, it was the other cat that went nuts over the bird video hahaha

  17. I tried each of these and the video with the live birds and the squirrels made Truffle sit up from her nap and watch the screen. I need to try this on the TV or my laptop and see what she does after a long time.

  18. Look forward to working through your list! My own cat is mildly interested in online videos, but some cats I know are like pre-teenagers -they could stay up all night watching!

    1. We have both extremes in this house. Jinx doesn’t mind them, she’ll watch for a bit, but it’s nothing overly exciting for her. Pippen on the other hand, she goes CRAZY for them lol

  19. These look perfect. There are, apparently, some games for iPad too. I tried downloading one for Cookie but she didn’t exactly like it. As it turns out, the iPad generates a bit of a buzz vibration with certain sounds and the sound of tapping the prey made just such vibration.

  20. Very clever idea to keep cats entertained! I once met a guy who made music for cats for a living, and know someone working on tablet games for cats!

    1. It hasn’t been too bad with Pippen knocking things over BUT I have a touchscreen computer and now she’s obsessed with it. Any time I am trying to get work done, she’s pawing at the screen closing windows, clicking on links, etc. It has definitely added a challenge to my work day lol

  21. Such cute ideas! My cat Milo has never been all that interested in videos, but maybe I’ll give it another try! I’ve played “relaxing music for cats” for him before while I was vacuuming so he’s already a tech-savvy cat LOL

    1. I find that our cats have those that they love and those they couldn’t be bothered with lol Maybe it’s just about finding the right video!
