Use Halloween Shaped Cookie Cutters

If you’ve been following Shed Happens for any length of time, then you already know that I am a big fan of homemade dog treats.

There are SO many benefits to making dog treats at home ranging from them being cheaper to having complete control over every ingredient that goes in.

If you share my love for homemade options, I have a great solution!

Why not make a simple homemade dog cookie like our Easy 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats?

But what makes that a Halloween treat?

Rather than just forming the dough into balls and flattening them as I did in this recipe, roll the dough out and use Halloween-themed cookie cutters.

Add Fun Halloween Themed Frosting

Is changing the shape of your dog’s treats just not enough to celebrate the season?

Take your Halloween dog treats for dogs to another level with the help of some fun dog-friendly icing.

While you can’t use just any icing on your dog’s treats (they can’t handle the sugars and other ingredients the way that we can), there are a number of recipes created specifically with them in mind.

These recipes use ingredients like carob, yogurt and peanut butter to create the perfect texture.

Freeze Treats in a Halloween Shaped Ice Cube Tray

Cookie style treats aren’t the only options available for your pup this Halloween.

Whip up these super easy frozen treats using a Halloween shaped ice cube tray for the perfect Halloween snack.

The best part about these? You can play around with the colours by experimenting with different fruits and vegetables!

Blend 1 cup of plain, non-fat yogurt with 1-2 cups of your fruit/vegetable until you reach the desired consistency and colour.

Pour your mixture into your ice cube tray and freeze for approximately 2-3 hours.

Here are some ideas for different colours that scream Halloween:

Purple: Blueberries

Green: Kale, Green Beans, Peas

Orange: Carrots, Pumpkin

Red: Strawberries
