5 Cat Phone Games for Android

There has been a lot of chatter recently about the use of smartphones in our daily lives. They act as our alarm clocks, GPS devices, cameras, virtual assistants and more. But what about our furry friends? Check out these fun cat phone games for Android!

It’s crazy to look back and see how technology has evolved over the years, finding new and innovative ways to improve our lives.

Once seen as a luxury, smartphones are quickly becoming a necessity.

They track our daily schedules, remind us of appointments, connect us with the world and even allow for easy payment options on the go.

As the saying goes: There’s an app for that!

If you enjoy passing time, playing a game on your phone, you’re not alone!

The vast number of different games available makes it obvious that there are game lovers around the globe.

However, did you know that there are games specifically made for your cat?

Next time that you’re looking for an option to keep your cat entertained (or distracted), consider pulling up one of these options.

WARNING: These games will encourage your cat to engage with your phone, swatting at your screen.

Before getting started, take the necessary precautions to keep your phone safe and scratch-free. This includes installing a screen protector and trimming your cat’s nails.

5 Must-Have Cat Phone Games for Android

#1 – Cat Alone 2

Of the games on this list, this is the one that is used here in our home on a regular basis.

The game has 6 different stages, each with a different theme for your cat to enjoy. This includes everything from catching mice and spiders to laser pointers and feathers.

It’s easy to navigate, easy to use and keeps Pip’s attention for as long as I’ll let her play.

Bonus – Its free!

Sure, there are ads, but they have to make money somewhere.

The ads that are there aren’t overly in your face or disruptive. They have found a good balance between making some money and providing a good product.

#2 – Cat Bat

Not only does this app offer the usual themes, like mice and laser pointers/bright colourful balls of light, but it also has some fun twists.

If your cat would have fun chasing turtles, frogs or ladybugs across the screen, they’ve got you covered!

The game is free to download with a limited number of options.

However, be prepared for in-app purchases if you are hoping to give your cat the full Cat Bat experience.

The ‘stars’ required to purchase additional levels are relatively low cost. The catch? It takes multiple to open up a single level, so it can add up quickly.

#3 – Cat Fishing 2

This app was developed in partnership with Nestle Purina, a name that most pet owners will recognize.

Unlike the first two games on this list, Cat Fishing 2 is limited to a single theme (the name says it all). But don’t let this keep you from giving it a try.

It’s a smaller game, with only 3 levels for your cat to play.

With each level, the game adds one more fish for your cat to chase around the screen. Level one has one fish, level two has two fish, etc.

Each round there is a time limit after which time, the fish will disappear from the screen.

If your cat does walk away from the device, it will ‘meow’ after 30 seconds of inactivity to try to call your cat back (or to let you know that you’re wasting your battery).

Note: I have found that this game is NOT necessarily compatible on all Android devices.

While I can download all of the other games on this list to my phone, this one is not compatible with it or my tablet.

If you find that you are unable to download this game, you’re not alone. I encourage you to check out some of the other options listed instead!

#4 – Cat Playground

I did reach out and ask a few other cat owners if there was a game that they enjoyed with their furry friends, and Cat Playground was by far the most popular answer!

This is a paid game. That being said, it’s only $2.19 to purchase at the time of writing this.

Personally, I feel like the price is worth it.

This game has more options and variety than the other options that I have listed up to this point.

Bonus: Purchasing the app upfront means no ads to contend with.

Your cat can choose from different options like moles, sharks, mice on cheese or a laser pointed.

The graphics on this game are definitely superior to the others that I have tried. However, don’t get your hopes up… it IS still an app for cats and not something designed for gamers!

#5 – YouTube

While this isn’t technically a cat game app, I can’t share a list of cat phone games for Android and not mention YouTube.

There are a large number of free videos available designed to entertain your cat for hours.

The only difference? They aren’t interactive when your cat bats at the screen the way that you see in the cat apps mentioned above.

That being said, I can speak firsthand about just how effective they are!

I have shared photos and videos on social media of Pippen playing with her favourite videos.

If you’re new to the world of YouTube for cats, don’t worry.

In a previous post, Pippen and I put together a list of her 11 favourite entertainment videos for cats. Check them out!

    1. It’s so funny to watch them play, isn’t it? Pippen’s favourite is still the bird videos, but she’s game to play with just about any video or game out there lol

  1. These sound like such great apps! My cats actually love phone games, especially the fish-centric ones! Thanks for sharing these, I’ll give them a go!

  2. My cats may or may not have a tablet of their own, just saying ? some of them are not gamer cats, as soon as they figured out the fish wasn’t real they were done, but some could sit and play with it all day.

    1. I love that! I have a cheaper tablet that I purchased for when we go camping (so that I can bring something that I’m not worried about getting damaged outdoors). When I’m home working, it has become Pippen’s tablet. She has a serious fascination with my computer screen (and it’s a touchscreen), so I have to distract her somehow.

    1. Right? I’m sure that we’ll see a wider variety of pet apps moving forward as these all catch on. Right now, the only dog apps that we have on the phone are for walking – tracking our walks and using our walks to help raise funds for local rescue organizations.

  3. Oh how fun! All of these games sounds like they could be very entertaining for a cat. I’ll share these with my friends who own cats. I am sure they will just love this, and their cats will too! Thanks so much for sharing.

  4. I didn’t know cat apps were a thing but they sound like so much fun for kitties. I’ll have to get one to keep my cats entertained.

  5. I had no idea that these kind of games and apps for cats existed! To be fair, I don’t think either of our two hobos would be terribly interested but for indoor cats I can see it would be a brilliant bonding activity. Also good for if you had a sick cat and had to confine them. Thank you, Britt, I’ve learned something today!

    1. We have 2 indoor cats. One isn’t all that interested, but she’s lazy, so I’m not surprised. Pippen, however, goes CRAZY over her games! She likes to be all over my laptop when I’m working, so I’ll use them as a distraction sometimes to keep her entertained beside me rather than climbing all over me lol

    1. Right? Ours have been going CRAZY over these. Bonus – it makes working from home WAY easier because I don’t have cats walking across my laptop or pawing at the screen while I’m trying to work lol

  6. Britt, I have no idea about this before reading your article. I can’t even believe such games exisits untill you put a limelight on this. An amazing post thanks for sharing excellent information??

  7. Oh my gosh that is so funny! I never would have imagined phone games for animals! Although I guess sometimes I do show my dog funny videos of animals on YouTube. My only concern is what happens when your cat accidentally buys something from the ads?! ?? Next thing you know you’re going to have 50 pounds of luxury cat food at your door.

    1. The game on the list that I’m most familiar with is Cat Alone 2 (that’s Pippen’s favourite) and it has been set up in a way that it makes it really difficult for a cat to close out the game.
That being said, with her, I’m more worried I’d have some elaborate, high-end scratch post ordered hahaha

  8. I am the weirdo that is now downloading the top two apps for my cat to play with! I think it’s so funny when he interacts with my phone. I have a pic where he somehow managed to engage the dropdown menu on my iPad and tried to launch Pokemon Go for me. So needless to say, this was the best thing I’ve read all day!

    1. I literally had Cat Alone 2 playing on my phone while writing the post – Pippen LOVES chasing the spiders in particular! I have a touchscreen laptop and she is OBSESSED with pawing at the screen. That game is one of the only ways that I can keep her busy and work in peace lol

  9. Oh my gosh! hahaha I just really smiled when I read this. I never thought of this hahaha! I only use YOutube though and play cat versions of songs for my cats. Kinda wanna let my cat play on my phone but also afraid of scratches. thinking about it, still sounds fun hahaha

  10. I don’t have a cat – or a pet for that matter – but I couldn’t resist this when I saw the title. I had no idea such a thing existed, there really is an app for everything! Definitely telling my cat-owner friends, this is brilliant.

  11. This is such a fun concept! I’d never thought about using a touchscreen for a pet (I mean tech is expensive!) but the idea of a cat pounding on a phone is hilarious. Not that our cat wasn’t tech savvy; she used to love walking across the computer keyboard ? thanks for posting something that made me smile ☺️

    1. I don’t encourage the cats to play with my laptop too often due to the risk of damage to the screen. However, I have a screen protector on the tablet and it’s used for when I’m camping anyway – so it’s literally set up to withstand the abuse lol

    1. I’m going to have to do some research and see what games I can find! Our current pups don’t have any phone games, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t out there 🙂

  12. Oh my goodness, I had no idea these kinds of apps existed. Good thing I don’t have a cat any more. I might have to buy it its own device. LOL

    1. While my cats don’t technically have their own device, I have a cheap tablet that I use when camping (I don’t worry as much if something were to happen) and we often use it at home for Pippen when she wants to watch her videos or play her games lol

  13. I don’t have a cat but this post is so fun! Never knew there are even games for cats! I will share this with my sister who owns 3 cats.
