Celebrate the Holidays with This Festive Holiday Portrait Fundraiser
As November comes to a close, the holiday season is officially upon us. Whether you’re looking to add to your festive decorations or still working on creating the perfect holiday cards, you need to check out this festive holiday portrait fundraiser!
There is no denying the fact that Christmas 2020 is going to be a little different. Nothing about this year has been ‘normal’.
Right?
For many of us, that means not getting together with friends and family the way that we have in years past.
I’m sure that Canada Post is going to see a HUGE increase in packages this year as more people than ever are mailing gifts and cards to their loved ones.

If you’re still stuck on what to do for Christmas cards this year, I’ve got the perfect solution!
Digital artist Sadie from SadieAndCoStudio and the blog ‘Her & Her Dogs’ is holding a festive holiday fundraiser that I couldn’t help but share with all of you.
Earlier this month, she shared the touching story of Katniss, a beautiful rescue cat that has been faced with more than her share of health challenges (and scares).
Luckily, she found herself in the care of the loving folks at Finley Cat Rescue.
While the rescue (and the veterinarians that they have been working with during her care) expert her to make a full recover, there are still veterinary bills to consider.
That’s where the fundraiser fits into this whole story…
Read the full story of Katniss and her journey to this point here!
Just in time for the holidays, you can purchase an adorable holiday-themed e-card featuring you and your pets.
A portion of the proceeds made off every sale will be donated to help cover her medical expenses.
The fundraiser is still open as I am writing this. However, I have been informed that it will likely be wrapping up this coming weekend.
Act now so that you don’t miss out!
Prices start at $20 CDN which would include up to 2 people and up to 2 pets. If your ‘pack’ is larger (like ours) you can contact her for a quote.
If you have questions or would like to place an order for your own holiday portrait, email sadiemae.co@gmail.com.
Not only do these portraits make amazing holiday e-cards, but they can also be printed for physical cards or to frame and add to your holiday décor.
Looking for a fun, personal gift for the pet lover in your life? This would make an incredibly special holiday gift!

This year has been particularly challenging for many people, including rescue organizations.
Not only are they working to shift their adoption processes to meet the restrictions in place due to the current pandemic, but they are also limited on their fundraising efforts with many in-person events cancelled for the foreseeable future.
If you are not in a position financially to make a monetary donation this season, consider checking out the other options to make a difference outlined in my post ’14 Ways to Help Your Local Shelter or Rescue Organization Without Adopting’.

Thank you to all who donate your time and/or money to the many rescue animals in need throughout the holiday season as well as year-round.
Specifically, thank you to Sadie for your work with this festive holiday portrait fundraiser.
What a great gift idea, thanks for the share!
Thank you!
Awww, this is such a lovely idea! We’ve all got to believe and think there is light and the end of the tunnel, I know Christmas will be a strange one, but at least we can look
Back and think yes 2020 wasn’t great but we can be sure 2021 will be amazing.
Right? We just have to make the best of the opportunities that we still have this year. At least I know that my adorable family portrait also helped to support an important cause – it warms my heart.
This is such a lovely idea, we’ve all got to try and make Christmas 2020 as positive it can be. And then just think 2021 will be the better year ?
Exactly – and what better way than to celebrate the holidays AND help a great cause? Right?
Hi Britt. Poor Katnis, what a rough time she has had. On the other hand, lucky Katniss, in that she has Sadie looking out for her. And I love the Sit for treats – many dog owners would be proud of that! I’ll take a look at the portraits.
For any non-Canadians, you can get an idea of currency conversion rates using this site: https://www1.oanda.com/currency/converter/ (FYI $20 CDN = £11.55 UK)
Thank you for sharing the currency conversion link. I love that it’s a digital fundraiser, so it’s open to everyone regardless of where they live – so that’s a valuable tool!
This is such a warm and wonderful initiative! Wishing you all the best! Happy Holidays!
I love that it’s something positive when there is so much negativity in the world right now!
What an adorable idea! I love the fact that it’s supporting an amazing cause too.
Right? It’s totally a win/win for everyone!
What a lovely idea! And they’d make a lovely Christmas cards as well, perfect for disorganised people (like me) who haven’t made a start on their Christmas cards yet. I particularly love how your animals are all around you both. Thank you for sharing this, Britt, I hope the fundraiser is a success 🙂
I am SO impressed with the end result. She did a GREAT job!
Wow, this is amazing. Such an inspiring fundraiser. This season will definitely be different. I am hoping for the best for all of us. I know someone who loves pets, I am going to share this with my friend. But, thank you so much for sharing this.
Thank you for sharing it!
That looks absolutely incredible! I’d love to get something like this. Amazing cause too x
Sophie
Isn’t it super cute? I love that it’s all done digitally – so it’s open to everyone regardless of where they live!
Thank you so much for sharing Katniss’s story and the fundraiser initiative. It was such a pleasure to create your portrait, Britt.
Thank you again for the portrait and for all you are doing to help raise money for Katniss’s medical expenses. I hope that sharing this will help you to raise even more!
This is such an awesome fundraising idea and a great gift idea for pet lovers. The portrait with your pets is so cute! I’d love to get one with my cats.
Thank you, I am SO happy with how it turned out! You should definitely contact her – she does great work!
This is such a great idea & the portraits would make great Christmas cards!
Sadie is amazing for raising funds for Katniss’s medical expenses!
Right? I can’t wait to share ours with everyone on our cards this year. It turned out SO adorable and I love that I was able to help with such a special cause.
What a great idea for a fundraiser! I will be sharing this to all of my pet loving friends as well. This world needs more generosity all the way around.
Right? I love that it is a great cause AND you end up with an awesome portrait. We’re going to be printing ours off to frame and display every holiday season.
Britt, this is such a wonderful fundraiser for Katniss. I think that the family portrait is so lovely, and such a great gift idea. I love that there is so much detail in the portrait as well. I really think those little details really make it so special. Thank you for sharing this post. I will be sharing this information with family, and friends. I think this is wonderful.
Right? Didn’t she do such an incredible job? I was so impressed by the time that she took to try to portray everyone in a way that it really honestly looks like them, even our dogs which are mixed breeds and therefore kinda unique appearance-wise in many ways.
This is so lovely. I know so many people who would love this as a Christmas gift!
Rosie
It’s definitely a big win for pet lovers!
I’ve always loved the idea of doing yearly holiday cards, but my partner and I HATE photos of ourselves – but this fun, digital version solves that! It’s super cute, plus it’s not a photo! There is *zero* downsides to it. I love it so much. I’m definitely doing to have to keep this in mind for future holidays ☺️
Right, isn’t it cute? I don’t mind photos of ourselves, but to get the whole ‘pack’ in there is such a hassle. Try juggling 4 pets for photos hahaha!
Awww what an awesome idea! I love this sort of thing, and hope that are able to raise what funds Katniss needs to be properly taken care of. This reminds me of a fundraiser we participated in last year for the Kauai humane society. They had a Santa station set up where you could do a family photo with the pets, people, and santa. It was really cool! I haven’t heard anything about it yet this year though.
A local rescue has done something similar in the past here as well, however, this year they decided to skip it due to the risks of getting everyone together in close quarters like that for a photo.
that is such a lovely idea! Perfect gift for Christmas and I love charity part of this. Your family looks awesome on this photo!
I love that we were able to have such a beautiful holiday card made with our family and also help a good cause.
This is such a lovely idea and who wouldn’t want a personalised portrait card?! I really hope Katniss makes a full recovery
Right? It’s a total win/win for everyone! You get an adorable personalized portrait card to send out and the rescue receives much-needed funds to help fund Katniss’s recovery.
Lovely idea for a xmas card! I might get one of my family and pets xx
You should! I am so impressed with the way it turned out 🙂
Wow, I absolutely love the family portrait!! I also can’t believe how affordable it is. This is a perfect gift or splurge for your family! We need to do more things like this to create special memories – especially since in person portraits are risky with covid right now. Thanks for sharing this amazing idea!
It turned out SO well! I am in love with the final resort, and even more so knowing that it went to help a good cause.
Definitely, Christmas is going to be strange this year (Thanksgiving was!) but I think it’s showing how resilient we are in our nature learning to pivot and try new things. This is a great idea to raise funds in this challenging time
Sadly it is going to be different. I am already missing the family get-togethers.
This is such a wonderful fundraiser idea! Vet bills add up so quickly too, and I am sure are overwhelming for a rescue pet with more issues than normal. I hadn’t even thought about Christmas cards yet, but I think this would be a lot of fun. Plus an amazing way to not only support a local business, but give back at the same time.
Exactly, this is the solution for us this year. We got our portrait done and I’m just printing it off on cardstock to make a card.
This is such an innovative and wonderful idea. Truly appreciate the fact that you are supporting the cause and creating so much awareness about it through this blog post.
That’s one of the biggest benefits of being a blogger – having the opportunity to share causes and topics that we stand behind like this!
Great Christmas idea to give back to shelters and adoption agencies too. Hope Katniss finds a forever home soon.
That’s one thing that I try to make a point of each holiday season – finding an opportunity to give back to those who need it.
