Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on their Super Bowl win this year, a win that has inspired many parties and celebrations throughout Missouri, across the United States and around the globe. One player, however, has been attracting attention for the way that he chose to celebrate this victory. Spreading the joy, Chiefs defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi paid the adoption fees associated with all adoptable dogs at a Kansas City shelter!
The news was shared on Sunday on the KC Pet Project Facebook page – to celebrate the team’s Super Bowl win, the Derrick Nnadi Foundation has sponsored the adoption fees of all dogs currently in the care of Kansas City Pet Project that were listed as ‘available for adoption’ on February 2nd.
Not only will this help these adoptable dogs to find their forever homes, but it will also clear space in the shelter’s network allowing them to rescue even more dogs.
Kansas City Pet Project is a well-known organization in the area. According to an online update published last month on their Facebook page, they were responsible for finding new adopted homes for 7,619 pets in 2019, a new record for the group! They also took more animals into their network than previous years, placing them in foster homes including 1,174 dogs, 1,959 cats and 179 other pets.
If you are looking to add a new dog to your family, you can view all of the adoptable dogs currently available through the KC Pet Project HERE. If you don’t currently have space in your home for another member but are interested in donating to the cause, you can find more information HERE.
UPDATE: CNN is reporting that every single dog included in this has now found it’s forever home! What an incredible ending to a great story!
