Coming This October on Shed Happens… BLOGTOBER!
I don’t believe that I have ever taken a step back to share a peek behind the curtain here at Shed Happens. Over the course of 2020, we have built a fun and engaging community here on the blog, with great conversations starting in the comments each week!
If you’ve been around here a while, then you know that I aim to post 3 times each week on the blog – Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
PLUS, on the first and third Wednesday each month, we come together for Hump Day Humour.
This is a fun post where I share hilarious pictures and videos from our ‘pack’. Then, I invite all of YOU to do the same, submitting your stories, pictures, and videos to be included.
Interested? Check out the Hump Day Humour series here.
Tomorrow marks the first day of October and with that, the start of a new challenge here on Shed Happens!
This year, I am taking on the blogging challenge known as Blogtober.

What is Blogtober?
During the month of October, many bloggers and vloggers around the world come together to celebrate the start of fall, the spooky season, and the blogging/vlogging community.
Blogtober is a challenge that encourages bloggers/vloggers to post a new post/video every day for the month.
This can be specific content about autumn, celebrating the spooky season or sticking to your regular content. The goal is simply to push ourselves and create high-quality content.
(Yes, this includes weekends and holidays – Canadians, no using Thanksgiving to get out of a couple of days!)
What Does This Mean on Shed Happens?
I am not committing to posting solely autumn or Halloween content.
Not that I don’t LOVE the season, but I have so many great pet-related posts that don’t fit into that box that I want to share with all of you.
However, for you (the readers) this means that you will find a BRAND NEW post every single day!

How Can You Get Involved?
While the Blogtober challenge is designed to push me to create new, high-quality content, I would be mistaken if I thought this was all about me.
After all, I would be sending off content into the abyss without all of YOU!
If you enjoy the content that you see throughout this season and would like to support the blogging community, here are a few ways you can help:
- Comment on the posts that you enjoy, get involved in the conversation
- Share your favourite posts with your friends/family
- Engage on social media, show bloggers that you’re reading
- Shopping? Consider purchasing through the affiliate links that your favourite bloggers share
- Follow your favourite bloggers on social media
You can find Shed Happens on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest!

But most importantly, just have fun!
I am having a great time putting this content together for all of you and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts and opinions.
I will also be sharing some of my favourite Blogtober content from other bloggers on Twitter for everyone to enjoy.
Happy Autumn everyone! Let’s get this Spooky Season started!
I cannot WAIT for blogtober.. I have never taken part but I absolutely love seeing all of the content coming out from bloggers! I think that it’s one of the best things to come back to the blogging community from the COVID stuff!

I have been looking forward to Blogtober since I kicked off this blog! I have joined in a couple of times on a different blog and loved it every time.
I’ve heard the term ‘blogtober” before, but never actually understood what it was. I wish I knew about it soon, so I could have participated this year. But there is always next year!
It’s a lot of planning, but I’m excited to see it all start to roll out!
The idea of the Blogtober challenge sounds interesting.. I hope you have a great time, as you engage with it.
I’m looking forward to tackling it! It’s a lot of content – but I have been planning and prepping for it.
That is a huge time commitment. Looking forward to reading all of your posts.
It is – but it has been SO much fun preparing for it!
I look forward to Blogtober each year. I get to see so many great posts from my favorite bloggers. I will be staying tuned to see your great posts! I am glad I found your blog because I love animals!
Thank you! This is my first year participating and I’m SO excited about it!
I know about Blogtober but I think I’m not ready to participate this year 🙁 Yeah, it needs a lot of planning and stuff so I hope I can join next year!
It definitely takes a lot of planning. There’s always Blogmas around the Christmas season. I believe a lot of people are planning on that right now.
Are you planning to do 31 1000+ word posts with research or streamline it and be more like a lifestyle blogger, where they can just talk about whatever they want for as long as they want?
The posts that I have written thus far are all 800+ words, high-quality like the content that I normally share on here. My posts are all carefully researched with the exception of the Hump Day Humour series. That’s just for fun and will still be happening on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. I think that’s the fun of the challenge – posting that frequently but not dropping the ball on the quality of the content either!
This sounds fun but also time consuming haha. Good luck and I will check out all your posts this month 🙂
It’s definitely a lot of work, a lot of planning – but I think it’s going to be a lot of fun and will also, hopefully, give the blog a nice boost!
I did Blogtober last year and I posted all Autumn/Halloween themed content! It was pretty exhausting so I have decided not to do it this year. But I wish you luck with it and look forward to reading your posts!
I couldn’t see myself pulling it off if I did all Autumn/Halloween content – just posting every day is going to be a challenge enough my first year!
more content equals more exciting posts to be released. With you on this as it encourage us more to be productive really.
It has really pushed me to get everything sorted out and aligned, however, I think I’ve discovered some great ways to increase productivity and organization that can be applied moving forward as I shift back into my normal posting schedule again.
Happy Blogtober! Looking forward to everything the challenge has to offer.
Thank you! I’m having SO much fun with it already and we’re just getting started.
oh wow! that’s a great challenge! I work a lot to keep up with my current schedule and making it everyday would be a lot today
It’s definitely a lot of work but I did plenty of prep so that I wan’t just slammed with it and overwhelmed as soon as October hit lol
I am so excited that it’s time for Blogtober already! I’m not taking part this year but I love that my feed will be filled with so much fresh content every single day!

This is my first year here on the blog, so let’s see how it goes! lol
Dang I’ve been blogging years and never heard of Blogtober. I love Fall, Halloween and blogging so this would seem like a perfect challenge for me. However like you said I don’t think I could restrict it to fall type posts. Good luck!
There’s too much that I want to share that isn’t necessarily seasonal. The good news is that many bloggers don’t restrict the content to just fall, Halloween, etc.
Some folks do one blog per day for Blogtober and Lord bless ’em cos I cannot lol. Your pup is cute!
That’s what I’m taking on here this month – One post per day throughout October. I have prewritten many of them, still working on finishing up some.
I had no idea that there were a whole month dedicated to bloggers and blogging. Wish I had make about the community earlier!
Isn’t that fun? There’s also Blogmas in December which is the same general idea – posting every day in December, often with holiday-themed content.
I LOVE the idea of doing a fun challenge that encourages you to get creative. Quarantine has really put a damper in so many ideas I had for fall (so many missed fashion photo ops!), so this is a lovely reminder to find unique ways to keep posting.
Yes! I needed something to help pull me out of this quarantine rut. This got me super excited, so I was all over it!
I love this idea! I am also planning to write one post per or at least a total of 31 posts for the whole month of October. So, far I have 5 as of October 5th and I need some inspiration and motivation to be consistent. I would love to join this new challenge.
It has definitely kept me on my toes preparing for this, but I am loving the push!
