Happy Holidays!

It’s officially here, the holiday that so many people around the globe look forward to all year. Whether you’ve been counting down for the bright, flashing lights or looking forward to that delicious holiday feast – the time has come! Today, I want to take a moment to wish you all a Happy Holidays!

There is no doubt that this year looks a little different for most of us.

Travel plans have been cancelled and families are getting together virtually through video conferencing programs like Zoom, Skype, House Party and Google Meets.

Just last night, we sat in the living room celebrating virtually with my husband’s family.

While we can’t get together with our loved ones in person, we live in an age where technology still connects us – something that wasn’t available to those who have lived through pandemics throughout history.

Around the globe, first responders and medical personnel are doing an incredible job on the front lines of this battle.

Thank you to all those who have been working tirelessly, making personal sacrifices, to allow us to share in this holiday celebration with family both near and far.

While we celebrate Yule in our house (which is already behind us), we have also adopted some of the more common Christmas festivities including gathering around our Christmas tree to open gifts.

We make sure that each of our pets has a gift under the tree to open Christmas morning.

This year, Jinx opened her own gift up for the first time. It was definitely one of those moments where we all laughing hard enough that we completely forgot about the crazy year that brought us to this point.

(Don’t worry, I made a point of grabbing a video so that you could all laugh along with us.)

  1. That was so cute to watch Jinx open the Christmas gift ! Yes indeed this year is different for all of us with virtual celebrations but most importantly we need to be safe . Happy holidays!

    1. She has never opened her own gifts before, but she was ALL OVER opening that one! lol I credit the organic catnip that was contained in the toy lol

  2. That’s so sweet you remember your pets too when gifting. We got a few gifts for Roxi too (she’s a cat). I’m hoping she likes them.

    1. They get so excited about their gifts each year. We include the dogs in the gift exchange with my mother and her boyfriend as well – buying for their pets and they buy for ours lol! They are part of the family, after all 🙂

  3. Happy holidays to you and your critters Britt! I love the cats in the bags and the dogs all dressed up. ? Ipo had lots of fun playing with her new toys and of course playing with our boxes. She’s not so sure about our new roomba though! ?

  4. Oh my goodness our Christmas was really fun. We decorated cookies, looked at lights, and just overall had a great time. Happy holidays to you as well and a fantastic New Year!

    1. That sounds like a great way to celebrate! We always love heading out for a walk around the neighbourhood with the pups, hot chocolate in hand, to see the lights.

  5. Merry Christmas! I hope your clan all enjoyed their gifts and day. My nan had a fall on her way to my aunt’s house for dinner and ended up spending the day in hospital so our festivities went well and truly out of the window this year x

    1. It’s easily the highlight of my Christmas morning as well. I love watching them get all excited as they tear at the paper.
I hope you had a great Christmas as well!

  6. Aww, Jinx is so cute! Although Christmas is a little different this year, I’m glad to see that you made it work either way. A little late, but Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones! 🙂

    1. Thank you! I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas as well!
I really do hope that 2021 is going to bring us all some relief from this. There’s no denying that 2020 was a hard one for many people.

  7. Merry Christmas to you too! Just like you, we celebrated it virtually with my family via Google Meet. It was different but the experience is not bad. Still thankful for everything.

P.S. Your furbabies are sooo adorable.

  8. I love the video of Jinx opening her present! My cat didn’t even come downstairs when we were opening presents – she slept on the bed upstairs for most of the day! I hope you had a lovely day despite the current restrictions xx
